Description:
Tubular ivory needle case (fossilized ivory), incised on either side with single line with pairs of tics. Hide thong runs through and is split extending out from one end. Moustache shaped ivory plug on single strand end; flint sharpener and ivory thimble holder on double strand end. Two tiny ivory needles inside. Needles are thrust into the hide and pulled into the case; thimble holder is elegantly carved. It is an interesting piece with all it various parts. See Nelson, 1899(1983), Plate XLIV for thimble holder(#13) very similar, from Norton Sound.
