The 1894 rifle was a simplification of earlier Marlin lever action rifle designs. The rifle retained the same solid steel receiver top and side ejection unlike other designs of the time, namely the Winchester series of lever action rifles. The solid steel top prevented dirt and debris and other obstructions from jamming the rifle. As such these rifles became popular and were a favorite among rugged outdoorsman and those who lived in rural and isolated areas. The model 1894 was chambered in a variety of cartridges like .44/40, .38/40 and 32/20. This example is chambered for .32/20. The rifle is accompanied by a flexible tan canvas cover or case.
