Wooden toy carbine rifle, with black wooden barrel and trigger, and brown stock.;ACCEPT. RELEVANCE: This toy was probably produced around or shortly after World War II. It is a good example of a child's toy with a strong connection to world events. OTHER COLLECTIONS: Quixis shows several other toy guns, considerably older, and one toy rifle from ca. 1912.CARRON01

John Howard Uhl was part of the United States Navy Reserve and served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy during World War II. Later in life he would serve as Senior Vice President and Legal Counsel for the Trust Department of the Michigan National Bank and as a board member and president of the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
