The Grand Rapids Public Museum High School welcomed its first class of 9th graders in the fall of 2018 at 54 Jefferson Ave. SE, home of the original Grand Rapids Public Museum building. The school was one of ten schools internationally to receive the XQ Super School grant, providing $10 million over the first five years to fund renovations, facilities, and new technology. A product of a collaboration between the Grand Rapids Public Museum, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, Grand Valley State University, the City of Grand Rapids, Downtown Grand Rapids, Inc., XQ Super School, and parents, through the Parent Teacher Community Council (PTCC), the school provides an immersive experience for students with access to museum archives and over 250,000 cultural and historical artifacts and specimens. The Public Museum High School serves over 250 9th-12th graders and saw its first graduating class in the spring of 2022.
