Description:
This bowler's hat accompanies wedding ensemble number 159825 and was worn by Joseph C. Salisbury who owned the Harness Shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is made of black felt and has a black grosgrain hatband around the base of the crown. It was made by Manasse Hats. 

The bowler hat was created by London hatmakers Thomas and William Bowlers in 1849. It was designed to protect horseback riders from low hanging tree branches and quickly became an iconic piece of men's clothing.
