Description:
This felt cloche features a wide velvet ribbon around the crown as well as velvet trim on the brim. There is a large plastic embellishment with a butterfly and gemstone design on the crown. The interior is lined with silk. This hat was made by Vogel in New York City. The cloche hat was one of the most popular hats during this time period and was often worn with short hairstyles such as the bob. This style of hat was often made of felt so it could easily form to the shape of the head. They were worn low on the forehead and sometimes featured embellishments such as lace applique, embroidery, and jeweled broaches.

As business in New York flourished, they permanently moved their plant to 29 West 36th Street in New York City. Vogel Brothers Company specialized in children's and women's hats.
