Description:
This hat made of tulle and horsehair has a velvet ribbon around the crown and artificial flowers on the crown. It was made by Leocadia Jones who was a famous milliner in Grand Rapids, Michigan during this time period. During the 1920s hats were smaller and fit more closely to the head. With its large size and wide brim, this hat was most likely worn during the summer months. The horsehair and tulle would have allowed the wearer to stay cool and the wide brim would have protected them from the sun.
