Description:
This navy blue ensemble consists of a coat, jacket, and skirt. The coat is made of cotton and has three covered buttons down the center front. There is a pocket on either side of the waist and it has a notched lapel. This coat also has upturned cuffs and a waist adjuster on the back. The interior is lined with synthetic material and displays labels that read "King Collins, Grand Rapids" and "Tailored by Parfay". The jacket has slanted pockets on the front as well as notched lapels and cuffed sleeves. There are also three labels. The first reads "King Collins, Grand Rapids". The second reads "Pace Tailored, Trade Mark Reg.". The third reads "National Recovery Board, Coat and Suit Industry" on one side and "Consumers Protection Label, Manufactured Under Fair Labor Standards" on the other side. There are pleats on the front of the skirt at the hem and there is a metal Talon zipper on the proper left side of the waist.
This suit is accompanied by hat number 130037.1, gloves number 130037.2, and purse number 130037.3.

The Japanese company YKK was also producing quality zippers but for less money which caused the company's market share to fall to 35% by 1981. In 1981, the company was sold to Nucor Holdings. Production was moved to Mexico but the company still suffered. In 1996 the Universal Fastener Company was acquired by Tag-It-Pacific. It was a trade organization that was put into place to guarantee that garments were being made in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards. If the label was found in a garment, it assurer the purchaser that it was made by workers who were being paid a good wage and working manageable hours. This label is seen in clothing from the 1930s to the 1960s.
