This elk skeleton was found on the East side of Basset Lake in Barry County, Michigan in a marl 25 to 30 feet out from the edge in front of the Bignall cottage.
It was previously identified by W.D. Frankforter and Elaine Moffatt on January 19th, 1973 and February 2nd, 1973. The ID was confirmed by museum staff Dr. C. Redman on May 22nd, 2019.
