Description:
This cloche is made of felt and has a fur trim. It was made by Leocadia Jones who was a famous milliner in Grand Rapids during this time period. ​The cloche was one of the most popular hats during this time period and was often worn with short hairstyles such as the bob. This style of hat was often made of felt so it could easily form to the shape of the head. They were worn low on the forehead and sometimes featured embellishments such as lace applique, embroidery, and jeweled broaches.

Leocadia Jones was born in 1892 and was a prominent hatmaker in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She started her business at Friedman-Spring Dry Good Company in 1925 and a year later she opened her own shop at 24 Sheldon Avenue Southeast. In 1927 Leocadia's shop moved to 8 Jefferson Ave Southeast. She stayed in business until 1956 when her husband, John Jones, passed away. Leocadia and John had a daughter Margaret who was born in 1923. Leocadia passed away on October 20th, 1961.
